“The End” by Angelo Carbone is a book test that allows a performer to reveal a spectator’s chosen word from a book, creating a compelling illusion of mind reading. The effect is designed to be straightforward and direct, and allows the performer to be a great distance from the participant as a word is merely looked at and remembered from any page of the book. Even under these impossible conditions, the performer is able to discern the word that was thought of, and reveal it in a very powerful manner.

A key feature of “The End” is its novel phonetic memory system, which aids performers in memorizing words by their sound rather than by letters. This approach simplifies the process and makes the effect accessible to performers of various skill levels. And for those who find memory work challenging, Carbone provides a crib solution that makes this 100% fail-proof.
The book itself, titled “The Return of Tomorrow,” is crafted to resemble an ordinary paperback novel, making the effect appear seamless and natural to the audience. This attention to detail ensures that the focus remains on the performance rather than on the mechanics of the trick.
Eric’s Take:
I have been performing book tests for decades, and it’s no surprise that I love them. The impact such routines has upon an audience is hard to quantify, but let me assure you – it always hits hard! From the moment I first saw the trailer for this book test, I knew it was different… and that I had to have it.
Upon receiving my own copy of The End, my suspicions were validated, and I immediately put it into my shows. This is the most hands-off, impossible word revelation that I perform today. Audiences are blown away, and the participant who is thinking of the word simply has no possible explanation for how I could know the one word out of tens of thousands from within the pages of the book. I love this effect, and so will you!

Routine Ideas for Biblical Application:
Psalm 139:4: “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.”
Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit… discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
